DSS raids residence of judge handling Dasuki’s trial — and 4 others
Operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) have raided the residence of some judges in Abuja, including that of Adeniyi Ademola, the judge handling the trial of Sambo Dasuki, former national security adviser (NSA), who is being prosecuted by the DSS for alleged illegal possession of firearms and money laundering.
The homes of Ademola and Nnamdi Dimgba — both federal judges — were raided on Friday night.
Ademola has been critical of the DSS, owing its refusal to release Dasuki after he had granted him bail.
Dimgba had also criticised the DSS for its high-handedness.
TheCable also learnt that the secret police raided the residence of Walter Onnoghen and Sylvester Ngwuta, both supreme court justices, on Friday night.
Onnoghen has been recommended by the National Judicial Council (NJC) as the next chief justice of Nigeria.
The reason for the raid on his home is still unclear.
In a related development, DSS operatives raided the residence of a federal high court judge in Port Harcourt at 1 am on Saturday.
Nyesom Wike, governor of the state, who was at the scene, told journalists that he went to the house of the judge to stop his abduction.
He alleged that he was manhandled by the security agents.
“The DSS, police, cocked their guns, and said they would shoot me,” he claimed.
“I told them I have never heard of this type of thing before. Again, this it to show that more of this will come.”
The Tyranny or rather total clampdown we kept warning of is finally there, he or she who has ears let him or her hear. That’s all that is left as they have nothing more to offer.
So so so sad. Must Mr President and his agents keep intimidating people until they dance to their tune? A judge is “corrupt” unless he/she learn to give verdicts that Mr President wants to hear (irrespective of the facts presented before him/her). No wonder the electoral officers in Edo Election postponed the announcement of the final result until they were able to do “further consultation” (as reported in the dailies) so they won’t be termed “corrupt”
This however can only work for a while. Once the people are pushed to the wall, they will have no other option than to turn back and then, the arrester will be arrested
