Goodluck Jonathan’s PhD thesis cannot be found, Tam David-West alleges

Goodluck Jonathan’s PhD thesis cannot be found, Tam David-West alleges
February 04
16:04 2015

Tamunoemi David-West, a professor and former minister of petroleum and energy, has suggested that President Goodluck Jonathan does not have a doctorate degree from the University of Port Harcourt as widely believed.

Ahead of the February 14 presidential election, one of the popular comparisons of Jonathan with Muhammadu Buhari, the two leading candidates, is that the president possesses a doctorate degree while his opponent does not even have a secondary school leaving certificate.

But speaking in Asari Toru, Rivers state, at the governorship campaign rally of the All Progressives Congress (APC), David-West said that all efforts to trace the thesis for which Jonathan was awarded a Ph.D. in Zoology by the University of Port Harcourt, had proved abortive.

David-West urged Rivers people to vote for Dakuku Peterside, saying he had not lied about his academic qualifications.

“Dakuku Peterside is God-fearing and without the fear of God, we cannot move forward, both at the state and federal level,” he said.

“Another reason is that I have discovered Peterside’s thesis: Corporate Political Strategy, but I have asked and I stand here on my honour, I have asked people to look for the thesis of my brother Jonathan and they have not found it.

“I sent another person and said ‘If you have not found the thesis, go and look for the title’. He came back to say, Oga I no see am.

“I am not saying that he lied but I want to see. I have been a professor since 1974. If you say you have Ph.D., the least I want from you is to give me the thesis, which university and where you got it.

“My name is Tamuno, which means there is God. If you are lying, there is God o. I advise our brother to look for his shoes and leave. Why am I in love with APC? It is because its members are God-fearing. One of the problems with Nigeria is that there are so many politicians but few statesmen.”

Is Buhari the answer for 2015?
    1. The man who said an attack on boko haram is an attack on his northern brothers.
    2. He was selected by the group (boko haram) as her spokesman for peace talk with the FG.
    3. He surrounds himself with the group of corrupt people like Tinubu who has turned himself to Lagos state government, Amechi whose bases of fight with GEJ is on oil well @the boundary between Bayelsa& rivers.
    5. The man who said if given the opportunity to rule this country he’ll do with sharia. (Is that not sentiment?)
    7. The man whose tribe(Fulani) are the main killers in various places in the country as a result of a feel that they’re deprived of their leadership right in Nigeria (Born to rule)

Boko haram is a mostly kanuri group, your item 5 is not true and lastly, it is the North central that have ruled the country the most e.g. Gowon and Babangida.

Its touching to see some Nigerians abusing a man old enough to be there father or even grandfather simply because he shared his opinion on a national issue….well, to me, it shows nothing but virtual lack of home-training. Now, to the foregoing issue, PDP are asking GMB to present his O’level certificate, good, let GEJ presents his own thesis as well, no show us that he holy pass GMB!

why are u all castigating the prof? is it bcos GEJ was not asked to produce this thesis when he contested in 2011? Truth must be told forget maybe he said it at the APC rally or not. if truly GEJ finished his Phd then he should provide it and lets see

This is diversionay. A Phd thesis is not a basic qualification to contest an election in Nigeria. But not being able to produce a valid o’level result or telling lies under oath to have one when you don’t is rather unfortunate and the least of the standard and moral disposition expected of a anyone vying for highest political office in the land.

It’s really a good thing that Nigerians have been given the opportunity to freely express their views and stance about Nigeria, politics and general thoughts.
Moreover, whosoever loves to sit on the seat of presidency cannot make it through abuses and insults because it is the most respected seat of citizenship. You cannot even insult on behalf of any candidate and see him step in there. Those days are gone.
Be sincere to tell yourself if Nigeria should go back to military and old men rulership.
In the true realm of life, APC cried for change but unfortunately missed it by not giving us AN ULTERNATIVE, watch out, they already lost it,,,, may be till 2019. God bless Nigeria.

    God bless Nigeria and Nigerians.
How can some so called educated people that I think should understand a little or more of the contents of the Nigerian Constitution be busy sweating over who has phd with thesis or title as if that would qualify or disqualify a candidate. The most unfortunate is that these selfish individuals are rather brother fighting the President out of envy and jealousy.
Nobody can vote Goodluck out when God already has chosen him.
If you understand divine influence, you will know that Goodluck has been God’s own candidate right from his days as a deputy governor.
Change is good, oppositions strengthen democracy if it is from good to better, not to bad. From military or civilian to another civilian, not civilian to military.
Who is the so called change agent?
    Who is this opposition candidate?
With all due respect, GMB does not fit in at all. Is he realy strong and healthy for thay office? Qualified in the true light of democracy?
Tinibu is fighting for his personal gain, he want to indirectly produce Nigerian president not in the person of gmb, rather prof Osinbajo because Tinibu is secretly monitorying GMB’s health.
His excellency, Amechi is a wounded lion and fighting as though drowning with all their sycophants. Let’s be sincere for once. Which president has ever allowed this kind of freedom of speech respect for human rights? Ask Marsha Harry, Bola Ige etc.
We cannot vote in Boko haram’s chief spokesman and representative on dialogue table. Who is BUHARI?

When people use we and religious sentiment to justify why things happens. Then I suddenly realise the psychological torture the nigerian system have done on its people. GEJ came under this same sentiments and created the unrepairable state of the economy we find ourselves today…he should as a matter of urgency leave that office with same sentiment for serious people to repair this country. People should keep their religious sentiment to themselves and get a life

We all will never agree but surely we can be truthful and civil in dissecting the issues at stake which to me are this: corruption, security and economy. On these fronts, GEJ has failed woefully. No other President to my mind has also played the religious card more surreptitiously than GEJ and this I find sad. It matters not whether you are a Muslim or Christian, Yoruba, Ibibio or Junkun…. These are not prerequisites for good leadership. GMB may not be the best but for now, he’s a better bet than another 4 yrs of this current government.

If in doubt of any certificate, the should be organisation not individual.
If GEJ thesis is not found, was his summary cert as professor confirmed by the University and awarded?
If Buhari claims he has second.school cert. Let him atleast produce it before we conclude its fake or not .

You people are just troubling yourselves for nothing. Gej is already our president till the next 4years. For now, no alternative, not even from apc. Find out who gmb is before you conclude.
Anybody would just rise up to say something, well campaign is on. Davidwest should be asked to produce gej’s thesis if we pretend to be distracted by his cookup stories. Why are people so easily decieved, even you? That is his university so he should produce it.
May the Lord carve out another nigeria, not this our own and let buhari rule his supporters where boko haram will serve as your defense ministry. For us it’s gej.
Do you sincerely say that Nigeria has been the same since Goodluck assumed leadership? Aviation, road sector, education, alumajiri, economy, power, human rights, safety of the lives of opposition like you? Buhari is still the brain behind bokoharam and he said as sooon as voted into power he will stop bokoharam, do it now after all you started it. My brothers and sister refuse to be decieved. God bless Nigeria and her democracy not dictatorship.

Let’s leave this certificate issue out, I believe both GMB and GEJ are well qualified as presidential candidates. The real issues for consideration should be what Nigerians stand to benefit in the next 4 years taking into account their antecedents. How have the candidates fared in key economic indices and other areas which have been in the court of public opinion for a long time. May the Lord give us the candidate of His choice.

@otitokoro, Thanks for your comment, it shows we still have reasonable people online, not the unpaid/paid sycophants of both parties. We should ask ourselves this question, are you worse off now than you were when GEJ took over power, if your answer is yes, vote APC, if no, then vote PDP. it’s as simple as that. A similar question / prayer is , May your life be run like PDP has run Nigeria for the past 16 years, if you can answer amen to that, vote PDP, if not, vote APC. There’s no fight in this matter.
