A total of 1,163 displaced children have been enrolled into primary school in Damasak, Mobbar local government area of Borno state.

The children were enrolled upon the visit of Babagana Zulum, governor of the state, to the area.

The pupils who hail from Guzamala and Abadam local government areas had been out of school since the displacement of their parents and guardians by Boko Haram insurgents.

Zulum appealed to parents to allow their children enroll in schools.

He said where functional schools are provided by government, social welfare assistance from the government will eventually be restricted to parents who allow their children and wards to attend schools whether western or combined curriculum of Islamic and western education.

The governor also addressed secondary school students in Damasak and those who have taken their senior school certificate examination.

The governor promised to help them actualise their dreams.
