13 die in Sokoto mishap

At least 13 people were burnt to ashes on Thursday in an accident that occurred at about 9:00pm at Tudun-Dukiya Village near Dogon Karfe, about 10km to Illela town in Sokoto State.
According to Dr Umar Gummi, the sector commander of the Federal Roads Safety Commission (FRSC) in Sokoto State, the accident occurred when two vehicles caught fire after a head-on collision.
He said while the persons that died were burnt beyond recognition, 14 others were seriously injured with some having first degree burns.
He added that some of the injured persons were receiving treatment at the Illela General Hospital, while others were referred to the Uthmanu Danfodiyo University Teaching Hospital, Sokoto.
