At least 13 people were killed in twin suicide bomb attacks in the capital of Cameroon’s far northern region Maroua on Wednesday.
A senior military source told Reuters that the first explosion hit a market, while the second one hit a densely populated neighbourhood.
This is the second attack in Cameroon in July.
Two weeks ago, two women suspected to be Boko Haram insurgents blew themselves up in Fotokol, a town in Cameroon’s north, killing at least 12 people.
The attack made the country to outlaw, burqa, a religious garment worn by Muslim women.
Boko Haram, which launched offensive attacks in north-eastern Nigeria six years ago, has also stepped up attacks in neighbouring Chad, Cameroon and Niger.
The strikes against the countries are seen as Boko Haram’s revenge on a regional military force that they are part of.
