Organisers of the Cohesion Football Tournament have announced the date for the commencement of the fourth edition of the underage competition.
The grassroots football competition is scheduled to take place from December 16 to 17, 2022.
For this year’s edition, the number of participating community teams has risen to 16 from 12 teams that participated in previous editions.
The 16 teams were drawn from the various LGAs in Lagos state.

The tournament is designed to equip underserved pre-teens between the ages of 9-13 with the core values, knowledge and skills needed to realise their full potential as leaders of the next generation.
On Tuesday, the draws to pair the participating teams were done at an event in Surulere, Lagos.
Speaking at the event, Damilare Obagbemi, convener of the Cohesion Football Tournament, said the increase in the number of participating teams shows the competition is extending excitement to more children in Lagos.

“More teams are participating this season; this simply means we are extending the excitement and joy of the competition to more children as some of them will be experiencing Cohesion Football Tournament for the very first time,” Obagbemi said.
“Primarily, this competition’s objective is talent development for ‘at-risk’ children who should be engaged positively. Last year we hosted 500 children who went home smiling. It truly takes a village to make the community a better place and we are invested in impacting children through football.”
The grassroots football competition is supported by Rite Foods, Dios Dlite, Olam, Nestle, Shuttlers, The Boys Brigade Aguda and Dano Milk.
