Omoyele Sowore, presidential aspirant of the Africa Action Congress (AAC), says the Nigerian constitution is a fraud and must be changed.

Sowore said this on Wednesday while addressing his supporters at the national party secretariat in Abuja declaration in Abuja.

He said Nigerians do not have input in the constitution while it was handed to them by the military.

“We need to change our constitution because this constitution is a fraud. We did not write the Nigerian constitution and we have no input there,” he said.

“It was written by the Nigerian military and they inserted the most fraudulent and insulting  words ‘We the people of Nigeria’.  Our constitution need to be rewritten.

“Everybody who is asking for restructuring is also asking for constitution to be changed. Without us in power, they cannot change the constitution in our own interest.”

While he declared his support for restructuring in the country, he stated that he would not create state police where governors would not be paying salaries.

“You are going to be more endangered with state police in which the governors are not paying their salary in seven months and they have arms . There will be open day robbery by the uniform people.”

He said AAC is the only political party that has global reach, adding the Nigerians, both at home and abroad, have keyed into its values and ideology of the party.

He said his #TakeItBack movement has organised over 60 town hall meetings across the nooks and crannies of the country and visited more than 23 states within six months.

“We have travelled to nooks and crannies of this country and the world . We have been to places like Benin Kebbi, Sokoto, Zamfara, Jalingo, Kano, Portharcourt, Abia and others,” he said.

“We have been to a village on the bank of Benue river and they said they have never seen government there before, we went there to talk to them.”
