20 Boko Haram captives freed in Cameroon

At least 20 of the 80 people kidnapped in Cameroon on Sunday by Boko Haram have regain freedom, the BBC is reporting.

According to the news corporation, many of those kidnapped in the cross border attack were children.

It quoted Cameroon’s defence ministry as saying that the hostages were freed “as defence forces pursued the attackers who were heading back to Nigeria”.

The sex and age of the freed hostages have not been disclosed yet.

The latest Boko Haram abduction on Cameroonian soil is considered the largest since the kidnapping of 27 Cameroonians in 2014.
About 219 Nigerian schoolgirls kidnapped on April, 2014 are still in Boko Haram captivity.
