2025 Hajj: NAHCON secures full accreditation of clinics in Makkah

The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) says all its main and outpost clinics in Makkah have been fully accredited for the 2025 hajj operations.

A statement by Shafii Mohammed, NAHCON’s principal information officer, said Akeem Alawode, head of doctors in the national medical team (NMT), confirmed the development on Thursday.

“On behalf of the head of mission and other principal officers of the national medical team, I thank Allah for the successful accreditation of all our main and outpost clinics in Makkah,” Alawode said.

“The process was completed just a few minutes ago, and all our clinics are now fully operational without any restrictions.”

He also commended the head of clinics and all medical personnel for their professionalism and dedication throughout the exercise.

Alawode noted that the development means Nigerian pilgrims in Makkah can now access unhindered medical services during the hajj.

On May 24, Hamidu Liman, head of the NAHCON medical mission in Madinah, said 11 Nigerian pilgrims were treated for mental health-related illnesses in Saudi Arabia.

Liman said that despite the complex health needs of pilgrims, no fatalities have been recorded since the start of medical operations in the city.

He added that two patients were recently quarantined — one for suspected tuberculosis and another for a possible case of monkeypox — but both later tested negative.
