The chairmen of the 20 local government areas (LGAs) and 37 local council development areas (LCDAs) of Lagos have unanimously endorsed Akinwunmi Amdode, the state governor, for a second term.

The council chiefs reached the decision on Sunday after a meeting with Ambode at the state house in Alausa, Ikeja.

According to a statement by Habib Aruna, chief press secretary to the governor, the decision to support Ambode for another term was on account of the need to allow him “continue with the massive infrastructural renewal and transformation of all parts of the state”.

Speaking through Omolola Essien, chairman of conference of LGs and LCDAs in the state, the council chiefs said so far, the achievements of Ambode were visible to all.

Essien said Ambode has performed “extremely well”, adding that no other state has been able to beat his achievements.

“We the chairmen of the 20 local government areas and 37 local council development areas (LCDA) of Lagos state are all here to reaffirm our endorsement of our Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode for second term,” Essien said.

“Our decision to support him for another term in office is based on the fact that he has performed extremely well; we can all see that everything that he has done in Lagos State, no other state has been able to do that.

“He has done very well and there is still continuation of a lot of things to be done which the Governor is actively implementing. We are here reaffirming our position because we have already endorsed him before now.”
