Imo, Taraba and Abia set to pick their governors

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) will on Saturday conduct 27 supplementary elections across 11 states in the country, including three states where the governorship will be decided. 

The elections are governorship supplementary (three), senatorial district supplementary (one), federal constituency supplementary (one), and state constituency supplementary (22).

Prominent among the elections scheduled for tomorrow are the supplementary governorship elections for Abia, Imo and Taraba states.

In Abia state, the election will take place in nine local government areas, namely: Aba north, Aba south, Ikwuano, Ohiafia, Osisioma, Ugwunagbo, Umuahia north, Umuahia south and Umunneochi.

A total of 276 polling units are involved in the election and 179,224 registered voters are expected to participate.

In Imo state, the election will take place in four local government areas, namely: Isiala Mbano, Isu, Oguta and Ikeduru.

In all, 256 polling units are involved in the election and 1,44,715 registered voters are expected to be involved.

In Taraba state, the election will take place in 10 local government areas, namely Bali Zing, Takum, Yorro, Donga, Wukari, Ussa, Karim Lamido, Kurmi and Jalingo.

One hundred and fifty-nine polling units are involved and 127,125 registered voters are expected to exercise their franchise.

States where other forms of supplementary election (senatorial district, federal constituency and state constituency) will take place tomorrow are Akwa Ibom, Corss River, Delta, Ebonyi, Ekiti, Gombe, Niger and Kogi.

Overall, 2,029 polling units are involved and 1,258,362 registered voters are expected to take part in the elections.
