The Sokoto state government has demoted at least 30 secondary school principals in the state, according to Daily Trust.
Muhammad Musa, president of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, and his secretary.
Musa could not confirm whether the development was politically motivated, as he said civil servants have accepted it in good faith.
One of the demoted principals, who pleaded anonymity, alleged that they were demoted to classroom teachers on accusation of partisanship from the state government.
The principal described the development as harmful to the development of education in the state.
Aishat Madawaki, commissioner for basic and secondary education in the state, denied claims that the development was politically motivated.
She said committees were set up before the principals were demoted, adding that some were demoted to the level of vice principals.
