Sharon Ikeazor, the executive secretary of the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate, has assured that the 33% pension owed to the Nigeria Police will be paid.

Ikeazor said this when members of the house committee on pension paid a visit to the agency.

“We are pleased to update you that adequate arrangement if being made for additional payment of the 33% arrears to bring the Police at par with some of the other pension departments. We are doing this in collaboration with all concerned parties,” she said.

She also told the lawmakers that the civil service verification exercise, which started in 2015, would continue.

“We are happy to inform the committee that plans are at an advanced stage to continue the civil service verification exercise which started in 2015.

“We can confirm to you today that the verification is scheduled for November 2016 in some North-Eastern states for pensioners. We intend to immediately follow with Rivers.

“As a Committee with oversight function over PTAD, we have extended an invitation to the Committee to visit our verification centers and have a real-life experience of how we do our verification.”

Hassan Adamu Shekarau, the chairman of the House committee, led the visit to the agency.
