At least five people were reportedly killed on Tuesday at Chando-Zrrechi village, Miango district of Bassa LGA of Plateau state.

Davidson Malison, national publicity secretary of Iregwe development association (IDA) in Jos, the state capital, disclosed this in a post on his Facebook page.

Malison said the incident occurred on Tuesday night when suspected gunmen attacked the village.

He also said another four persons have been missing since Sunday.

“Chando-Zrrechi (Tafi-Gana) of Miango District was attacked last night by Fulani militia. Five people confirmed dead so far,” Malison wrote.

Ubah Ogaba, spokesman of the state police command, did not answer calls nor respond to a message when reached to comment on the incident.

The development comes weeks after seven persons were killed and over 250 razed houses in some communities in Miango chiefdom of the LGA.

There has been tension in Plateau after 22 travellers returning to Ondo state from Bauchi were killed and another 14 injured along Rukuba highway in Jos North LGA of the state.

Simon Lalong, the state governor, had declared a 24-hour curfew in Jos North and dusk-to-dawn restriction in Jos South and Bassa LGAs.
