Following the official launch of the phones, Apple has announced that the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are now available for pre-order in both the UK and US. However, following the euphoria of the launch of the new handsets, the most puzzling questions of all by eager users is which of the two would be ideal to get. With the juicy features both possess, it is almost impossible to choose one over the other.

If size was a determinant, then that would be the only reason to get the 6plus. But because humans vary and so do desires, it cannot be recommended as a reason to get the phone – but it can indeed be suggested. While you’re still deciding on which of the two to pick come Friday, here are additional reasons you should get the phone at all, regardless of how pricey they might actually be.

Size: Yes size. Like I said, it cannot be recommended but it can be suggested. The iPhone 6 and 6 plus are fairly larger in size when compared to the iPhone 5s. The iPhone 6 has a 4.7-inch screen and weighs 129g, while the 6 Plus has a 5.5-inch screen and weighs 172g. Both larger and heavier than the iPhone 5s, which has a 4-inch screen, weighs 112g and is thicker by at least 0.5mm. Image Optimisation: Larger screens mean better displays. The iPhone 6 and 6 plus have a higher resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 and 1,334 x 750 and a higher pixel density of 401 pixels per inch and 326 ppi respectively. However, the 6 Plus will be able to use special iPad-style landscape modes on some apps when the phone is held horizontally, while the 6 will not.

Camera: If you thought the iPhone 5s, like me, has a superb camera, then you’ll in for your mind to be blown. Though both devices are equipped with an 8-megapixel lens, the iPhone 6 has a more upgraded image stabilisation than the iPhone 5s, while the iPhone 6 Plus has a better option of optical image stabilisation, which works for those with unsteady hands when shooting an image or recording a video. Both have a 1080p HD video capability.

Battery: The improved battery performance is probably the best news that came with the new gadgets. the iPhone 6 Plus, however, has a higher battery capacity than the iPhone 6, meaning you can talk more, watch movies for as long as you want, and surf the web for a few hours longer. For the iPhone 6, it has a non-removable with talk time up to 14 hours on 3G and Internet usage time and up to 10 hours on LTE, while the iPhone 6 plus has a non-removable with talk time up to 24 hours on 3G and Internet usage time and up to 12 hours on LTE.

Sleek New Shape: The design of the new smartphones goes back to the original iPhone, with smooth rounded edges which aid the larger devices to sit comfortably in the hand. The power button and volume keys have also been moved to the side for easier access. The 6 Plus feels comfortable in the hand; the size of the larger device will surprise “people who are used to the older models and have never tried out a larger Android phablet”. For those used to the shape of the iPhone 5s, the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus are outfitted with a thinner design than ever. Slimming down to 6.9mm and 7.1mm respectively, the trimmed depth is said to “make the larger device easier and more comfortable to hold in hand, despite being wider and taller” and come in colors gold, silver and space grey.

Price: A lot of people have been asking for the price since its launch, outside the contract stated prices. Well, here they are, and to be honest, they are quite affordable. For the iPhone 6- off-contract $649 (16GB), $749 (64GB), and $849 (128GB) while for the iPhone 6 plus- off-contract $749 (16GB), $849 (64GB), and $949 (128GB).

In addition, Apple blessed us – or imposed upon us – the new album from the veteran all time best music band, U2, and while most might have their reservations as to its sheer disposition of fine talent and the company’s lack of respect for permission, I thought the album was brilliant.
