75-year-old woman abducted in Ondo

Gunmen have kidnapped Fehintola Wewe, a 75–year old woman, in Sabomi, Ese Odo local government area of Ondo state.

Wewe’s abductors took her away late Friday after raiding the community, seizing valuables from residents.

A family source said the case had been reported at Igbekebo divisional police station. The abductors are yet to contact the family of the aged woman.

Femi Joseph, spokesman of the Ondo police command, confirmed the incident, said the command was intensifying efforts to rescue the woman.

Joseph said policemen were combing nearby forest to fish out the suspectrd kidnappers.

“We are doing everything possible to ensure that the old woman regains her freedom” he said.

Wewe’s abduction came three weeks after the wife, children and driver of Rufus Akinrinmade, traditional ruler of Odigbo town, still in Ondo, were kidnapped on Ikare-Owo expressway in Oba Akoko, Akoko south west local government area of the state.
