95% of Kaduna votes will go to APC, Uba Sani tells Tinubu

L-R: Uba Sani and Bola Tinubu

Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, has promised President Bola Tinubu that the state will deliver 95 percent of votes to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general election.

Sani spoke on Saturday at a mega rally held at the Murtala Square in Kaduna, where four members of the state house of assembly, five house of representatives lawmakers, and thousands of their supporters defected to the APC.

The defections bring the party’s representation in the house of representatives from Kaduna to 13, leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) with three. In the state assembly, the APC now has 26 members against PDP’s eight.

“We don’t have any opposition in Kaduna,” Sani said.

“I promised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu some months ago that we were looking at 80 percent of the votes.

“But today, I have shifted my ground; about 95 percent of the total votes in Kaduna state will go to APC in 2027.”

He said the influx of politicians to the ruling party is a consequence of his administration’s focus on justice, fairness, and inclusivity.

“Our state is the most diverse in Nigeria. We used our diversity as strength, and that’s why we’ve not had one single ethno-religious crisis since we came in,” Sani added.

“Politics is about unity. Poverty has no respect for religion, ethnicity, or political affiliation.”

The governor assured new members that the APC will treat all members equally.

“Those that have joined our party today and those that have been with us since inception will have the same privilege,” he said.

The rally was attended by Nentawe Yilwatda, APC national chairman; Tajudeen Abbas, speaker of the house of representatives; and Balarabe Abbas Lawal, minister of environment, among others.

Yilwatda described the APC as “the promised land” for Nigerian politicians, adding that Tinubu and Sani deserve second terms based on their performances.

Abbas said the APC has achieved unprecedented political dominance in Kaduna.

“Today, whether in Zone 1, Zone 2, or Zone 3, APC is the party to beat. We’ve never been this strong before,” he said.

Hussaini Jalo, who spoke on behalf of the defectors, said Kaduna is now a one-party state and expressed confidence that Tinubu and Sani would be re-elected in 2027.

The defectors include Sadiq Ango (Sabon Gari), Abdulkarim Husseini Ahmad (Kaduna South), Aliyu Mustapha Abdullahi (Ikara/Kubau), and Hussaini Jalo (Igabi).
