‎President Muhammadu Buhari has released the names of 47 ambassadorial nominees.

The names were contained in a letter sent to the senate, and read on the floor of the upper legislative chamber by Senate President Bukola Saraki on Thursday.

In the letter, the president sought the consent of the senate‎ for the confirmation of the nominees.

According to Saraki, Buhari asked that the senate approve the list at the shortest time possible.

“I have the honour to forward the attached list of 47 career foreign service officers as ambassador designates for consideration and confirmation by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the letter read.

“Copies of their curriculum vitae are attached. It is my hope that this will receive the usual prompt attention of the distinguished members of the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

The names of “the career diplomats” who will head Nigeria’s missions abroad when confirmed by the senate ‎are: Obinna Chukwuemeka, Salisu Umoru, Inyan Iyang-Udoh, Okeke Vivian, Liman Munir, Ndem Jane, Mohammed Hassan, Martin Cobham, Janet Olisah, Itegbuoye Sunday, Olatunde Adesesan and Lilian Onoh, Manaja Isa, Ngozi Ukaeje, Bello Husseini, Enoch Duchi, Garba Baba, Usman Aliyu, Zainab Salisu, Momoh Omeiza, Kadiri Audu, Balogun Hakeem, Inusa Ahmed, Ibrahim Isah, Bankole Adeoye and Oluwasegun Ibidapo Obe.

Others are: Ogundaro Sakirat, Eric Bell-gam, Attahiru Haliru, Rahmatu Bulima, Musa Mamman, Kabiru Bala, Adamu Shuaibu, D. A. Agev, T.K. Gonglong, Ibrahim Hamza, K.C. Nwachukwu and Q.I. Worlu, E.K. Oguntuase, I.A. Paragalda, L.A. Gashaga, Olufemi Abikoye, Abubakar Ibrahim, Rabiu Kawu, Odeka Bisong, Okeke Nwunaku, and Adekunbi Habeebat.

The president, in the letter, said the list is made up of only career civil servants in the foreign service.
