Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna State, has signed the N985.9 billion 2026 budget into law, allocating 70.9 percent, approximately N698.9 billion, to capital expenditure.

Sani spoke during the signing ceremony at the state’s council chambers on Monday.

He said the capital expenditure is targeted at infrastructure development, economic expansion, and improved service delivery.

The governor said the budget, titled ‘Consolidation of Transformation for Inclusive Development,’ reflects his administration’s resolve to consolidate the gains already made, while laying even stronger foundations for sustainable growth.

“Recurrent expenditure stands at N287 billion, or 29.1 percent, ensuring that essential government services continue to function efficiently and responsibly,” he said.

Sani noted that education takes the largest share of Kaduna’s N985.9 billion budget at 25 percent, because knowledge is the most powerful tool for breaking the cycle of poverty and securing the future of Kaduna children.

“Infrastructure and rural transformation also account for 25 percent, reflecting our determination to open up communities, connect markets, and stimulate economic activity across the state,” Sani said.

“Agriculture and food security receive 11.65 percent, reinforcing our commitment to feeding our people, empowering farmers, and strengthening our local economy.”

According to the governor, the budget also made provisions for climate change, nutrition, and environmental sustainability, reflecting his administration’s commitment to addressing current realities and securing a sustainable future.

“By allocating N100 million to every ward in Kaduna State for community-driven projects, we are empowering our people to determine their priorities and drive development from the grassroots,” he said.

He said the 2026 budget introduces no new loans, with N114.9 billion already paid in debt servicing, showing the administration’s commitment to securing Kaduna’s future.
