Equity: The new gender agenda

Equity: The new gender agenda

The new unlimited space given the liberals has birthed so many changes, creating a brand new world that we almost do not recognize anymore.

For instance, the word “partner” has replaced spouse/husband/wife in many multinationals. It has become more acceptable to protect the people at the other divide, a brand new way of life that has eroded the two gender types and created the opportunity for people to “transgender” at will and in limitless frequency.

One of the major influences on these new and absurd thinking is the equality agenda being promoted by women, many of who do not understand the degree of damage this stance has done to the fragile fabric of togetherness.

Who can we possibly blame when the campaign has been “become a man by all means” under the auspices of equality. What exactly is Equality? In mathematics, 1+1 = 2; that is absolute and direct because the axioms are true and it is driven by proven theorem. However, a man is not equal to a woman. In fact the phrase “……..and the two shall become one” which is a common part of the vows on the wedding day says it all.

Although neither the man nor the woman is superior or inferior to the other, our God-given roles are simply different. Our physical, emotional and spiritual capacities and reactions can also be defined or discoloured by this difference. Yet, we are created to complement each other excellently. And this sometimes is beyond the marriage institution.

The egg is different from the sperm. It is like the head and tail of a coin, none can stand on its own to make a baby. Both must fuse together to create a human being. One of the greatest damage the equality agenda has introduced is the promotion of the underlining message of inadequacies, that brought us there in the first place.Instead of women being reinforced and esteemed in their God-given role as girl-lady-wife-mother-professional etc., women are told that the roles are inferior, so ditch it and become a man.

If a woman knows that her role in the circle of life as a bearer of life, the human with the womb or as a mother is as important as the man who donates the sperm, then the inferiority will be eroded. That feeling that we are not good enough as a female, so we need to be like the men to be whole – “a supposed superior gender” was the position pushed by older women to the young ones which has created a lot of distortion. These equality thought process and the quest to be like the men has bred the disease of marginalization in our minds. Incompetence, lack of sense of responsibility and poor performance by women are all swept under the carpet of “But you know I am a woman” therefore further weakening the argument.

If the equality agenda was pushed with a balance in mind for all kind of women, irrespective of the choices and not the war against the male gender, then it would have been a more balanced argument that would have yielded far greater result. Even amongst women, because the choices differ, the needs are not same and equal. Just as some women believe strongly that marriage places certain premium on them, many other women have deliberately chosen to be single and remain so in a very healthy fashion.

Hence, the need to deploy an all encompassing approach which is “Equity”. I believe in equity, a position that recognizes that we all have our needs which may not be gender defined. This will create a more tolerable approach where needs are treated and solutions are customized to people having the same needs without pulling out the gender card at every opportunity.

If this is so, a woman or better still a person can take a career break like it’s needed by most women when raising a family and be sure to come back and continue without all the attendant problems that go with it. A career break should be treated as one whether it’s for raising a family, health issues or for educations. A maternity leave is as much a leave as every other leave, so biases should be excluded.
Women need to push the equity card instead of gender variance so that a generation of strong women who lack any sense of inferiority will arise and take the reins. Women need to start playing the card of competence and high performance instead of the need to merely balance the number of females on the board at all cost; which in itself in not self sustaining. Don’t tell a girl to become like a man, rather let her see the strength in who she can become – a woman of substance because excellence has no gender!
