Until Tuesday 22nd April 2014, Manchester United had not fired a manager in 28 years, the last being Englishman Ron Atkinson’s dismissal on 6th November 1986.

It could be argued that Atkinson’s successor, Sir Alex Ferguson, held the post from then until his retirement at the end of the 2012-2013. But despite the travails that typified Ferguson’s early United reign, he — unlike Moyes — did not inherit a team that had just won the league.

Below are 14 records Moyes ignominiously broke in just 10 months in the United saddle:

United are guaranteed to end the season with their lowest-ever Premier League points tally.
For the first time since 1995, United have failed, this season, to qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
This season, United have had their worst-ever home league form in over a decade.
They suffered three defeats in a row this season, for the first time since 2001.
United were eliminated in the FA Cup third round, a development that never occurred during all but one of the seasons under Ferguson.
Swansea defeat United at Old Trafford for the first time ever this term.
Newcastle managed to pull off the same feat, for the first time since 1972.
In addition to Swansea and Newcastle, West Brom also defeated United at home — for the very first time since 1978.
Either home or away, Stoke had not defeated United in the league since 1984 — until under Moyes this season.
This season marks the first time that United have conceded a first-minute goal in the Premier League, against Edin Dzeko of archrivals Manchester City.
Since the inception of the Premier League, it is the first time that Man City and Liverpool have beaten United home and away.
It is also the first time since the Premier League’s inception that Everton, Man City and Liverpool have all beaten United both home and away
Until this season, the last time Everton beat United home and away was during the 1969-70 season.
It is also the first time ever that Everton and Liverpool have done a league double over United in the same season.
