Dangote Foundation donates N200 million projects to Kano hospital

The Dangote Foundation on Saturday, presented to the management of Murtala Muhammed Specialists’ Hospital, Kano, N200 million worth of health projects it established in the hospital.

According to NAN, the projects are two expanded ultra modern maternity laboratories, maternity blood bank, post maternity ward, Eclampsia ward, theatre and laboratory, as well as six other renovated wards with their facilities.

Fatima Dangote, who represented her father, Aliko Dangote, at the occasion, said the foundation was established to support the needy as part of its social responsibility in the country.

She said at the moment the foundation was executing various projects in Kano and other parts of the country.

Fatima said the foundation would continue to execute similar projects with a view to improving healthcare delivery service across the country.

In his remark, Kabiru Getso, Kano commissioner for health, said the Dangote Foundation was executing other intervention projects in the hospital worth over N7 billion, which would go a long way in strengthening healthcare delivery in the state.

Getso said the hospital, established about 92 years ago, had undergone transformation following the commitment of the present administration under the leadership of Abdullahi Ganduje, the state governor.

“Murtala Mohammed Specialist Hospital is the biggest facility in Africa; the maternity ward alone records no fewer than 2, 000 deliveries monthly,” Getso said.

Ganduje, represented by Hafiz Abubakar, his deputy, applauded the foundation for its immense contribution, particularly to the development of health sector in the country.

“Before your emergence, we could only see international support, he said.

We urge you to continue with the good work.”

Citing Dangote as an example, Abubakar urged other wealthy individuals to support the less privileged people in the society.
