Ambode, Fowler to attend advertising agencies’ summit

Akinwumi Ambode, governor of Lagos state, and Babatunde Fowler, chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), are among the dignitaries excepted at the 44th annual general meeting/congress of the Association of Advertising Agencies of Nigeria (AAAN).

According to a statement signed Steve Babaeko, publicity secretary of the association, the congress will hold between July 6 and July 8 at the Golden Tulip Hotel, Festac, Lagos.

The governor is expected to declare the 2016 AGM open, while Fowler will be the chairman of the occassion. Other dignitaries expected to attend the congress are Tunji Bello,

Other dignitaries expected to attend the congress are Tunji Bello, secretary to the Lagos state government (SSG); Steve Ayorinde, Lagos state commissioner for information and strategy; and other senior government officials.

Equally expected are captains of industry, top business leaders and policy makers within and outside the marketing communications industry.

Kayode Oluwasona, AAAN president, explained that the association intends to use the AGM, which is themed ‘Fresh Thinking’, as a platform to stimulate fresh perspectives and critical thinking “to find unorthodox solutions to the challenges facing the business and practice of advertising in Nigeria”.

The association also invited Bayo Adekanmbi, transformation executive, C-Level lead for strategic initiatives, MTN Nigeria; and David Okeme, president, Advertisers Association of Nigeria (ADVAN), as speakers at the event.

Jenkins Alumona, chairman of the AGM/congress planning committee, said fresh thinking and new ideas “are critical to today’s business”.

He promised that delegates and participants would benefit from the educative papers to be presented by the speakers.
