NPFL: MFM defeat ABS as Plateau United fall to El Kanemi
MFM defeated ABS 2-1 to close the gap between them and league leaders, Plateau United, on Sunday.
Plateau were defeated in Maiduguri by El Kanemi on match day 27 in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
Despite the loss, the Jos-based team remain atop the log with 48 points while MFM are second with 46 points.
In Uyo, Enyimba also suffered a setback to their title hopes as they fell 1-0 to Akwa United.
Meanwhile in Ibadan at the Lekan Salami Stadium, two first half goals from Ajayi Bello and Bode Daniel against Wikki Tourist gave their relegation battle a huge lift.
Lobi Stars defeated reigning champions Rangers 3-1 in Makurdi.
In other games, Niger Tornadoes defeated Remo Stars 1-0 to compound their relegation woes, Sunshine Stars pipped Abia Warriors 1-0 in Ijebu Ode, Nasarawa United were held 1-1 by Gombe United at home while FC Ifeanyi Ubah beat Katsina United 2-0 in Nnewi.
