The way we perceive helps us form a frame of mind with which we navigate many things, our guiding principles i.e. values and beliefs and life in general. These are all formed by our perceptions. What works for me, won’t necessarily work for you. Even if it does, the mechanics of its workings will differ based on our application.

I had a business meeting at a certain venue last week. Looking from the outside in, the venue seemedinappropriate for the purpose I wanted it to serve and my colleagues also echoed this sentiment.

When we eventually walked in and looked from the inside out, we discovered we could move things around and make it perfect for the purpose we required it to serve. All we had to do was to consider available options and find creative ways to evolve our plan from its original state.

When you drop preconceived notions, and open up your mind to receive options from your realities, you find that seemingly impossible things give way to endless possibilities. When you focus on what can be done, the power of creativity comes alive.

Even after you form perceptions, if you don’t learn to let go of preconceived notions when faced with options, chances are you’ll miss out on life and learning.

Before you conclude, allow your mind to investigate, examine and determine the veracity of what you’ve seen or heard.

Perceptions color the way we live, the way we love, the way we relate.

‘ A dog bit me when I was young; dogs are wild’

‘I tried this before, it didn’t work then, it won’t work now.’

‘A guy broke my heart, all guys are the same.’

If it no longer serves you, let it go. The past, preconceived notions, and perceptions; you may not be able to change the direction of the wind but you can adjust your sail to reach your destination no matter what.

Let it go, Learn and grow.
