Governor of Imo state, Rochas Okorocha, has relieved six of his commissioners of their duties for showing interest in the 2015 general elections.

The commissioners are reportedly nursing the ambition to be elected into the lower and upper chambers of the national assembly and also the state house of assembly.

On Thursday, Pascal Obi, the principal secretary to the governor, announced that the commissioners had been relieved of their jobs and directed them to hand over to their permanent secretaries on or before Friday.

The affected officials include the commissioner for industry and non-formal sector, Mrs Ugochi Nnannah-Okoro and commissioner for internal resources and pension matters, Mr Nick Oparandudu, who are respectively aspiring to contest for a seat in the Imo east senatorial district (Owerri Zone).

Others are commissioner for finance, Mr Chike Okafor and commissioner for information, Dr Theodore Ekechi, who are planning to be members of the house of representatives.

The commissioner for public utility, Dr Ifeanyi Nwachukwu, and his counterpart in the primary, secondary and non-formal education ministry, Dr. Uche Ejiogu, are aspiring to be members in the state house of assembly.

The governor thanked them for their services and commitment to his administration and wished them well in their future political pursuits.
