Adekuoroye wins second straight Commonwealth gold in wrestling
Odunayo Adekuoroye defeated India’s Pooja Dhanda to claim the gold at the ongoing Commonwealth Games.
The 2014 Commonwealth Games gold medalist beat Dhanda 7-5 in the women’s 57kg wrestling category.
The 24-year-old won bronze medal the 2015 World Wrestling Championships.
She won silver medal in the women’s freestyle 55kg category two years later.
Blessing Oborodudu, eight-time African champion, claimed her first Commonwealth Games gold medal after defeating Canadian Danielle Lappage in the women’s 68kg category.
Alexios Kaouslidis of Cyprus defeated Nigeria’s Soso Tamarau to claim bronze medal in the men’s 97kg category.
Earlier, Amas Daniel won bronze in the men’s 65kg in a draw bout with Canadian Vincent De Marinis.
