The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has called for investigation into the recent Boko Haram attack in which at least 100 soldiers were reportedly killed.

The forum made the call in a communique issued after its national executive council (NEC) meeting on Wednesday in Kaduna state.

Boko Haram insurgents had attacked the 157 task force battalion in Metele, Borno state.

In the communique signed by Muhammad Biu, ACF spokesman, the forum said the attack should be investigated to find and restore confidence in the troops fighting Boko Haram war.

It also expressed deep concern over the deteriorating security situation in the country.

“The attack was most devastating to the morale of our soldiers and worrisome to Nigerians,” the communique read.

“Leaders at all levels also have important roles to play by supporting the efforts of the security agencies and the intelligence community as the tasks and responsibilities for securing lives and property cannot be left to the government alone.

“NEC extends its condolences to the bereaved families and urged the military authorities to promptly pay death benefits to the next of kins of the dead soldiers and officers.”
