Five pregnant women out of the 10,496 persons, who were displaced as a result of the Boko Haram attack in Mubi, have been delivered of babies, Sani Datti, spokesman of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), disclosed on Monday.

Dati said more people are still pouring into the five camps situated in Yola south and Fufore.

Boko Haram seized Mubi on October 30, forcing residents to flee in large numbers.

Dati also revealed that Muhammad Sani Sidi, the director-general of  NEMA, said the agency, which had been managing IDP camps and distributing relief materials in Adamawa and other states in the northeast affected by the insurgency, would continue to establish more camps and provide all the basic needs of the displaced persons.

“He said the agency has delivered adequate relief materials to all the established camps in the state and the new one would be provided with tents,” Datti noted.

“The director-general had dispatched an advanced team of NEMA officials to assess the situation and take necessary action to bring succour to the displaced people.  The team is led by the director of relief and rehabilitation, Mr. Eugene Ezeh.”

The camps are in Dawarei, Girei, Malkwohi, Nyako housing estate, NYSC camp and COCIN church. The relief items provided at all the camps include drugs, rice, clothes, mattresses, maize, buckets, mats, soaps, towels, cooking oil and sanitary items.
