The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its house of assembly primaries scheduled for December 1, by one day, as a mark of respect for those who were killed in a bomb attack on Kano central mosque on Friday, and in sympathy with those who were injured or affected one way or another by the attack.

The Peoples Democratic Party had also postponed its Kano state house of assembly primary election for a similar reason.

Lai Mohammed, APC’s spokesman, said on Sunday that the house of assembly primaries would now take place on December 2, 2014.

“All the dates for other primaries remain unchanged,” he added.

The party described the attack as a national tragedy, saying it could not be oblivious to the “plight of the victims of the absolutely condemnable and totally incomprehensible attack on defenseless citizens in such a hallowed place as a mosque.”

In an earlier statement, it had condemned the attack on the worshippers and vowed that terrorism would never prevail no matter how long it took.

It also urged all citizens to demonstrate the Nigerian spirit of compassion and strength of character by providing succor and support to one another.
