The All Progressives Congress (APC) has named Bisi Akande, former interim national chairman of the party, as the chairman of a 12-member committee address grievances of party members.

Lanre Issa-Onilu, APC spokesman, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.

Issa-Onilu said the committee would be inaugurated at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday.

“The committee is empowered to address grievances of party members across the country and resolve existing conflicts, all with a view to fostering oneness, strengthen the party for better governance and ensure unity of purpose within the party,” he said.

“The committee will be inaugurated on Tuesday 11th February 2020 at the APC National Secretariat by 3pm.”

Other members of committee are; Abubakar Sani Bello, governor of Niger state; Gboyega Oyetola, governor of Osun state; Yahaya Abdullahi, senate majority leader; Ahmed Idris Wase, deputy speaker of the house of representatives; and Umaru Tanko Al-Makura, former governor of Nasarawa state.

Kashim Shettima, former Borno governor; Sharon Ikeazor, minister of State for environment; Nasiru Aliko Koki, Khairat Gwadabe-Abdulrazak, Binta Garba and John Enoh are also on the panel.

The ruling party is currently enmeshed in crisis in different states. Commenting on this in a recent interview, Kayode Fayemi, governor of Ekiti, said the APC may collapse after President Muhammadu Buhari leaves office in 2023.

One of the major crisis rocking the APC is the misunderstanding between Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the party, and Godwin Obaseki, Edo governor.

Oshiomhole had opposed the reelection bid of Obaseki and the governor has hardly missed any opportunity to tackle the man who was instrumental to his emergence.

The Edo governor has accused Oshiomhole of trying to assume the role of a godfather, vowing to resist him at all cost.
