Nigerian players were in action as games in the German Bundesliga 1 and 2 resumed during the weekend amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Striker Taiwo Awoniyi got on the score sheet as FSV Mainz 05 drew 2-2 at FC Koln. It was his first ever goal in the German top flight.

Jordan Torunarigha, central defender, put up a solid performance for Hertha Berlin who trounced TSG Hoffenheim 3-0.

Kevin Akpoguma, another Nigerian defender, played at the opposing end of the pitch.

FC Koln 2-2 Mainz 05

Awoniyi, a Liverpool loanee, came off the bench to help Mainz launch a fightback against Koln after the visiting team went two goals down.

He was introduced in the 57th minute. Some minutes after the hour mark, the striker opened his Bundesliga goal diary with a close range finish.

Defender Kingsley Ehizibue played only seven minutes for the Billy Goats.

Union Berlin 0-2 Bayern Munich

Anthony Ujah, former Werder Bremen forward, missed an easy chance as Union Berlin lost at home to Bayern Munich while Suleiman Abdullahi wasn’t listed for the game.

Felix Udokhai had a goal disallowed by VAR as Augsburg lost to VfL Wolfsburg, his parent club.
