No automatic shirt for Alampasu in Flying Eagles, says Garba

Flying Eagles coach, Manu Garba, has told Dele Alampasu not to expect an automatic shirt in his team despite his new status as a foreign based player.

Alampasu recently signed a four-year contract with Portuguese Primeira Liga side Estoril Praia for an undisclosed fee.

And Garba said the 18-year-old will have to fight for a place in his team like any other goalkeeper.

“Dele (Alampasu) is still our player and we hope he will join us soon. When he comes, he will have to fight for a shirt just like everyone else because nobody has an automatic shirt,” he told sl10.ng.

“We don’t have a first choice goalkeeper at the moment, but I can tell you that we have some good goalkeepers and Dele will have to fight for a place in the team because nobody will be given a special treatment.

“It doesn’t matter where you play. If he plays abroad or in Nigeria, the most important thing is to be good enough and we have very good goalkeepers in our team and no one has an automatic shirt.”

The Flying Eagles emerged champions of the 2015 Super Six invitational tournament in Abuja but should face stiffer test in Senegal during the Africa Youth Championship in March.
