Robert Ssentamu, presidential candidate of the National Unity Platform (NUP), better known as Bobi Wine, says he has run out of food items to sustain himself and his family.

In a Twitter post on Tuesday, the politician-cum-singer said he has been placed under house arrest for six days.

Bobi Wine stated that the soldiers guarding his house have refused to allow them go out, and have also prevented anyone from visiting him and his family.

On Monday, he said the soldiers prevented the US ambassador to Uganda from seeing him in his house earlier in the day.

“Day Six under house arrest and we’re still stuck with an 18 months old baby who had paid a visit to her auntie (my wife) be4 we were raided & besieged,” he tweeted.

“The Dad has been denied access to her. We have run out of food and milk. No one is allowed to leave or come into our compound.”

Prior to the January 14, 2021 presidential election, Bobi Wine had cried out on several occasions over what he described as threat to his life and that of his campaign team by security agencies.

Yoweri Museveni, who has so far spent 35 years as president of the East African country, was declared winner of the election, but Bobi Wine rejected the results.

The Ugandan authorities had also shut down the internet 48 hours to the controversial election, but online access was restored two days after Museveni was declared winner.
