West Bromwich Albion striker, Brown Ideye, is targeting the maximum points for his club in their next two games in the Barclays Premier League (BPL) to ensure survival.

The Baggies have back-to-back home games against QPR and Leicester, both of whom are currently in the bottom two.

Ideye, who is facing a race to be fit for Saturday’s game against Rangers, believes two wins would be a confidence booster for the team as they approach the business end of the season.

“People are talking about three (points) but I’m not confident with that. I think we should go for six,” he said.

“In football you don’t know what will happen in the next minute so getting six points for us would be good.

“The next two games are massive. We are playing at home so we have to concentrate on giving our fans what we need, which is three points, so we have to go for it and make sure we grab it.”

After struggling through the first half of the season, Ideye has scored five goals in his last eight games.

But the 26-year-old – a club record £10million signing from Dynamo Kiev last summer – insists there has been no significant change in his approach since the arrival of Tony Pulis who replaced Alan Irvine in January.

“Even when things weren’t going well with me I kept on working hard,” he said.

“It was unfortunate that things only turned out this when Tony was here but I had a chat with him and he told me to keep on working hard.

“That’s what I was doing even when Alan Irvine was here and things just didn’t work out the way they were supposed to be.

“But I am enjoying my football right now and I will just take it one step at a time.

“He told me to work hard for the team as everyone is doing right now. Being in the first XI is hard but his approach is giving us results.”

West Brom have 33 points and are 14th on the log with nine games to go.
