Olusegun Afolayan, head of operations of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) in Ekiti, has urged residents living in the state’s riverine areas to relocate as there may be more incidences of flood in the coming months.

Afolayan, who visited some residents of Ikere Ekiti on Friday, warned that the state might experience more floods in the coming months, according to information from the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMET).

The state had recently experienced flooding after three days of rain, leading to the submerging of houses in Oke-Osun community, after a river in the area overflowed its bank.

After the incident, some of the residents had to relocate to Ado-Ekiti.

On his part, Ganiyu Obasanyin, the Olukere of Ikere Ekiti, appealed to the state government to come to the aid of the community.

The monarch also cautioned residents against blocking the drains with refuse.
