Amina Mohammed to speak at MAN event on SDGs

The Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) is set to hold a high-level roundtable discussion on sustainable development goals (SDGs).

With the theme “Industrialization: A Pathway to Achieving The Sustainable Development Goals”, the lead speaker is Amina Mohammed, deputy secretary-general of the United Nations.

In a statement on Wednesday, the association stated that the event will hold on Thursday as part of its 50th-anniversary celebration.

MAN noted that the roundtable will highlight the need for collaboration among the manufacturing community, government parastatals as well as international trade collaboration across African countries under the AfCFTA umbrella.

GAC Motors, a subsidiary of Guangzhou Automobile Group, will sponsor the event as part of its efforts to contribute to Africa’s economic development.

Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), will be the special guest of honour, while the panelists include Muhtari Aminu-Kano, director-general of Nigerian Conservation Foundation and Victoria Orelope-Adefulire, special adviser to the president on SDGs.

Others are Carl Cruz, managing director of Unilever, West Africa, Jean Bakole, United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) representative to ECOWAS and regional director, Nigeria regional office hub. The event will be moderated by Tunji Olaopa of the Nigerian Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies, Kuru.

“Truly, MAN has been doing well to promote made-in-Nigeria products and provide an enabling environment for manufacturers in Nigeria. GAC Motor has been and will continue to implement more strategies to stimulate economic transformation in this blessed continent. This 50th Anniversary marks the beginning of new things,” Diana Chen, Chairman of CIG Motors said.
