The Nigerian army on Tuesday said it had rescued 30 persons forcefully abducted by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in the Dikwa local government area of Borno state.

Tukur Gusau, deputy director of army public relations, disclosed this in a statement issued in Maiduguri, capital of the state.

“As a result of the ongoing operation under the aegis of Operation Lafiya Dole to clear Dikwa and its environs from Boko Haram terrorists, the 7 division of the Nigerian army on Tuesday rescued 30 women and children from the hands of the terrorists in Kwayabe and Wufe wards of Dikwa LGA,” Gusau said.

“The rescued persons include 21 children, a six-day-old infant and seven women. Three of the women are nursing mothers.”
