Gunmen, on Wednesday, reportedly invaded the low-cost housing estate in Zaria city, Zaria LGA of Kaduna state.

Six persons, including a customs officer and his son, were said to have been abducted.

According to sources who confirmed the attack, the gunmen came in their numbers and were shooting sporadically.

The incident comes two days after the attack on the Abuja-Kaduna train where some passengers were killed, with several sustaining injuries and an unspecified number of people still unaccounted for.

According to a source, the gunmen invaded the community around 10pm.

“Yes, there was heavy attack in Low Cost area this night at about 10pm,” the source said.

When contacted, Mohammed Jalige, spokesman of the Kaduna state police command, said he is not aware of the incident as he is yet to receive any report on it.

“I cannot confirm it because I have not received any report on the incident, but I will contact the our men in the area and find out,” he said.
