The federal government has eased the COVID-19 restrictions in the country.

In a document dated April 2, the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) said it had reviewed the country’s COVID-19 response as a result of the declining number of cases, reduced risk of importation of new variants, as well as the increasing number of people vaccinated in Nigeria and globally.

According to the reviewed guidelines, the nationwide curfew imposed from 12 midnight to 4am has been lifted and the advisory limiting Nigerians to essential travels only has also been lifted.

“Use of face mask to be mandatory for indoor activities but at individual’s discretion during outdoor activities,” the document reads.

For the private and public work sector, the PSC said work by all staff should resume in all offices.

“However it is advisable to continue measures that will reduce congestion in office spaces such as virtual meetings, working from home or on-and-off days,” it added.
