IGP confirms Olumuyiwa Adejobi as force spokesperson

Usman Baba, inspector-general of police (IGP), has confirmed the appointment of Olumuyiwa Adejobi as the spokesperson of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).

In February, Adejobi was appointed in acting capacity after Frank Mba, the former spokesperson, proceeded for a course at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos.

In a statement on Tuesday, Anjuguri Manzah, admin officer, force public relations department, announced that Baba confirmed the appointment of Adejobi as the 25th indigenous force spokesperson.

Prior to the recent appointment, Adejobi served as Lagos police spokesperson between September 2020 and August 2021.

He was later posted to the public relations department of the force headquarters in Abuja.

Adejobi was the police spokesperson of the Ogun state police command from 2008 to 2016. He also served as police spokesperson for zone 2 headquarters in Onikan, Lagos.

He has also served as operations officer, anti-bank robbery and anti-pipeline vandalisation, Sagamu division from 2006 to 2008; admin officer, department of operations, police headquarters, Ogun state in 2008; and operations officer, department of operations, Lagos command in 2017.

He studied archaeology and geography (combined honours) at the University of Ibadan. He also earned a master’s degree in peace and conflict studies from the same university.

According to the statement, he is also a member of several professional bodies and associations, which include: Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR); International Public Relations Association (IPRA); Point Man Leadership Institute, USA; International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), USA; Society for Peace Studies and Practice (SPSP); Boys Brigade Nigeria; and the Institute of Corporate Administration, Nigeria.
