The bid to select the running mates of Atiku Abubakar and Bola Tinubu, presidential candidates of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and All Progressives Congress (APC), respectively, dominated the cover pages of Nigerian newspapers.

The Punch reports that the PDP has constituted a committee with the mandate of selecting its vice-presidential candidate. The newspaper says the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC) Limited made N1.7 trillion from crude oil sales in 12 months.

The Nation reports that President Muhammadu Buhari asked APC governors to work for the victory of Tinubu in the presidential election. The newspaper says the federal government has linked the attack on the St Francis Catholic Church, Owo, Ondo state to the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP).

Daily Independent says the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has opened its portal for political parties to upload candidates. The newspaper reports that the court has ordered Mohammed Bello, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), to swear in new chairmen and councillors.

Nigerian Tribune reports that the Kaduna state government has confirmed the killing of 32 villagers in Kajuru LGA of the state. The newspaper says angry youths burnt down at least 20 motorcycles over the death of a pedestrian owing to an accident.

Daily Sun says the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) denounced the factional Labour Party, saying the party is not divided. The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has threatened to punish politicians who are working against the interest of the Igbo, the newspaper reports.
