The Jigawa police command says it will begin raiding hideouts and black spots of suspected criminals twice a week.

Lawan Shiisu, police spokesman in the state, announced this in a statement on Tuesday.

He said Aliyu Tafida, commissioner of police in the state, gave the directive during the monthly meeting with security managers, area commanders (ACs), divisional police officers (DPOs) and other senior police officers on June 30.

According to Shiisu, the order of the CP takes effect immediately.

“The CP directed that the raid be carried out twice in a week, unless if there’s any official assignment or other eventualities,” NAN quoted Shiisu as saying.

“The CP strongly warned that rigourous patrol, raids of criminal hideouts and black spots will continue throughout the state in order to flush out criminals.”

The police spokesman said in compliance with the directive, a team from Taura divisional police headquarters, at about 8:30pm on Monday, raided a criminal hideout at a railway in Taura LGA of the state.

He said during the raid, a 20-year-old suspect was arrested with 111 wraps of dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, 33 packs of rubber solution popularly known as “sholisho”, a handful of soak-and-die solution, two pairs of scissors, and one cutlass.

Shiisu added that the suspect would be charged to court after investigations are concluded.
