Supporters of Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP), staged rallies in Kwara and the federal capital territory (FCT) on Saturday.

In Abuja, the supporters began the march from Unity Fountain to the Moshood Abiola National Stadium.

In Kwara, Obi’s loyalists converged at Post Office before heading to other areas like Challenge, Taiwo, and Unity amid heavy security presence.

The supporters have held several rallies in the last few months to mobilise support for the presidential candidate across the country.

On Thursday, Obi was urged by Kayode Ajulo, a human rights lawyer, to move from social media and deepen alliances with stakeholders across the northern and southern parts of Nigeria.

So far, Obi’s supporters have staged rallies in Abia, Bayelsa, Ebonyi, Anambra, Enugu, Jos, Niger and Ebonyi — where they had a brief altercation with the police last week.

According to the supporters, the former governor of Anambra is the best candidate to lead the country.

Obi is contesting against Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), among others.

Political party campaigns are expected to start on September 28.
