Three goals in 13 first-half minutes were enough to leave Arsenal in control as they ran out to a 3-0 win over Manchester United at the Emirates Stadium on Sunday.       

The Gunners came out blazing and found themselves 2-0 up after just seven minutes.

Alexis Sanchez flicking home a fine effort at the near post before Mesut Ozil placed a low shot into the bottom corner after being feed the ball by Theo Walcott.

With barely 20 minutes gone on the clock the scoreboard read 3-0.

Sanchez grabbed his brace with a drive into the top corner. United had their chances after the restart, but they were unable to find a way past Petr Cech, who ensured a clean sheet to help Arsenal leapfrog the Red Devils into second in the standings.

Earlier, Everton and Liverpool shared the spoils after the 225th Merseyside derby finished 1-1 at Goodison Park making it the sixth draw in seven meetings between the teams.

Danny Ings put Liverpool ahead in the 41st minute when he was left unmarked inside the Everton six-yard box and nodded home James Milner’s corner.

But slack defending by Liverpool allowed Everton to level in first-half stoppage time, with Romelu Lukaku firing home after Emre Can’s attempted clearance had hit his team-mate Martin Skrtel.

Christian Eriksen scored two free-kicks as Tottenham Hotspur twice came from behind to claim a 2-2 at Swansea City.

The Denmark midfielder opened his account for the season and atoned for the own goal of team-mate Harry Kane, who had handed the hosts a 2-1 half-time lead at the Liberty Stadium.

Kane’s own goal came after Eriksen had wrong-footed Lukasz Fabianski from a dipping set-piece to cancel out Andre Ayew’s 16th-minute opener.

Spurs, who have never lost to Swansea in the BPL, levelled in the 65th minute as Eriksen found the top-right corner from the edge of the box.
