President Muhammadu Buhari has directed Mohammed Abdullahi, minister of environment, to represent him at the UN climate change conference (COP27).

The conference, which is in its 27th edition, is set to take place in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt from November 6 to 18.

TheCable had reported that the president travelled to London, the United Kingdom (UK) for a medical checkup — and is expected back in the country in the second week of November.

In a statement on Friday, Ibrahim Haruna, the environment ministry’s head of press, said Buhari had asked Abdullahi to deliver the national speech on his behalf at COP27.
