‘N50m for nomination form’ — APC releases timetable for Imo, Kogi, Bayelsa guber primaries

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released its timetable for the Imo, Kogi and Bayelsa governorship primaries.

The tenures of the current governors of Imo, Kogi and Bayelsa states expire on January 14, 26, and February 13, 2024 respectively.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed November 11, 2023, as election day in the three states.

In a notice released on Friday, Sulaiman Argungu, APC’s national organising secretary, said the sale of delegate forms would be sold between January 30 and February 1, 2023.

Argungu said February 2, 2023 was fixed for the last day for the submission of completed delegate forms and February 7, 2023, was set aside as the day to elect ward delegates.

The organising secretary said February 8, 2023, would be the day to hear appeals from the congress.

He said between February 15 and 22, 2023, the expression of interest and nomination forms would be sold to governorship aspirants at the party’s national secretariat in Abuja.

Wednesday 22, 2023 was fixed as the last day for aspirants to submit their completed forms and accompanying documents.

Aspirants will be screened between February 24 and March 26, 2023 and results from the screening exercise will be published on March 28, 2023.

Any aspirant who does not have a favourable screening exercise result could appeal it on March 29, 2023, Argungu said.

No dates have been fixed for the primary election in Kogi and the appeals thereafter.

The organising secretary said April 8, 2023 was fixed to elect delegates who will vote at the Imo and Bayelsa state congresses.

April 10, 2023 was fixed for the primary to elect governorship candidates of the party in Imo and Bayelsa.

The congresses to ratify the results of the primaries of both states were fixed for April 11, 2023.

The party said it would hear appeals for the Imo and Bayelsa primaries on April 12, 2023.
