Toure ‘will be out’ of Man City if Guardiola becomes new coach

Toure ‘will be out’ of Man City if Guardiola becomes new coach

Yaya Toure who lost the 2015 African Footballer of the year award to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, may lose his place at City if a reunion with Pep Guardiola happens at Manchester City.

The pair worked together on a short term between 2008 and 2010, which ended up with the Ivorian being sold to his current club, out of frustration for lack of playing time at Nou Camp.

Guardiola has been heavily tipped to take over at the Etihad after he announced his desire to coach in England, having given up his post at Bayern Munich, and with the club currently in doubts over their manager, Manuel Pellegrini.

Should the “over-rated” Guardiola become City’s new manager, Toure may be forced to leave once again as he did six years ago. At 32, he likely will not get enough playing time under a Pep who fancied a younger Sergio Busquets at Barcelona over the towering midfielder.

Dimitri Seluk, the player’s agent who thinks the Guardiola is overrated, is doubtful of his plans and worries that Toure “will be out” should that change in management take place.

“I don’t know what Guardiola’s plans are, but – after what happened at Barcelona – of course it is a worry that when he comes Yaya will be out,” Seluk told the UK’s Daily Mirror.

“I hope not and Yaya hopes not.”

Whatever Guardiola’s plans will be at Etihad and that is if he ever replaces Pellegrini, the agent does not trust in his portrayal of a “spectacular coach” as he is being painted – challenging him to manage a weak team that is not considered a table-topper if he was that good.

“Pep is a great coach. But he has won the title at Barcelona and Bayern Munich.

“The truth is that my grandfather would win the title with Barcelona and Bayern Munich because they are big clubs with great players.

“I’d like to see Pep take a club that is eighth or ninth and make them champions.”

This is not the first time Toure or his agent has talked about leaving the Etihad over fears of being unfairly treated or losing out in the team set-up.

In 2014, then 31-year-old Toure went on a rant about how he was disrespected by the club after the management did not send him a birthday cake.

Together with his agent, they voiced thoughts of leaving the club but later relaxed his “unhappy” self.

He again trolled the Confederation of African Football (CAF), for its “mistreatment” and “disrespect” after it awarded Gabonese international, Aubameyang, won the African Footballer of the year award for 2015.
