The Ogun state government has relocated traders from the popular Kara market to a 300-hectare piece of land in Ogere in the Ikenne local government area of the state.

According to Adejuwon Soyinka, senior special assistant on media to Ibikunle Amosun, governor of the state, the new market space was provided with a sleeper road that ensures traffic in and out of the complex does not have adverse affect on the expressway.

Soyinka said Amosun started the relocation process on Friday.

“In a bid to ensure that the traders do their business in a conducive, secured and healthy environment, Governor Amosun equally ensured that the new market complex is provided with not less than four boreholes alongside the presence of a stream at the location,” he said in a statement.

“The Governor, while welcoming the traders to the new location, on Monday, assured them of his administration’s determination to provide them a modern market fitted with Fire Service center, modern stalls, a police station, an abattoir as well as other services.

“Governor Amosun explained that the decision to relocate Kara market to the present Ogere location had been taken since 2012.”
