James Ibori, former governor of Delta state, has congratulated Rashidi Ladoja on his upcoming 81st birthday, and coronation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland.

Ladoja, who served as governor of Oyo between 2003 and 2007, will clock 81 years on Thursday.

He will be officially installed as Olubadan on Friday, September 26, at a ceremony in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital.

In a statement issued on Tuesday, Ibori described Ladoja as a principled statesman whose life has been “divinely orchestrated by God and geared towards the service of humanity”.

“On behalf of my family, I congratulate His Excellency, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, on the auspicious occasion of his 81st birthday as well as his coronation as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland,” the statement reads.

“Ladoja’s story is that of a man favoured by God. A highly principled statesman, he is a dogged fighter for justice, equity and fairness. In all his political travails, he was patient but resolute in his determination to prevail.”

Ibori remarked that Ladoja’s ascension to the revered throne of Olubadan underscores his devotion to truth and respect for tradition.

He prayed that the monarch’s reign would usher in peace, progress, and development for Ibadanland, the south-west, and Nigeria at large.
